Temptation Chef to cook up a storm in California

A list of movie and television celebrities are in for a treat when renowned local chef extraordinaire Dino Jagtiani of Temptation and Rare whips out dishes with a Caribbean flare at the 19th annual Evening with California Wine Masters Saturday evening.

Set on the Warner Brothers Movie lot called Midwest Street, which is used as "the Quintessential Any Town in the United States," Jagtiani, famed for his cuisine in the region will be the only non-US based chef serving up his culinary creations. His invitation was based on his best recommendation: his palette stimulating menus at his two restaurants in Cupecoy. Organizers of the red carpet event on vacation in St. Maarten tasted his Nouveau Caribbean dishes in the soothing atmosphere of Temptation, voted the best High End and Most Romantic restaurant on the island for several years now.

Wowed by his ability to concoct flavors that pulse to the beat of the island with plating that are uncomplicated works of art, the organizers trusted their taste buds and asked Jagtiani to join the chef line up. The wine tasting extraordinaire and spectacular hors d'oeuvres dinner benefit the US Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Host for the event is Actor/Emmy Winner Richard Paltrow, who co-starred and guest starred in many popular TV shows in the 80s and 90s including the A Team, Falcon Crest, Dynasty, MacGyver, Knight Rider.

He now stars in All My Children, Santa Barbara, and has film credits in Dragnet, and Jagged Edge. Giving California another taste of the Caribbean and the opportunity to see whose taste reigns supreme in the region, Jagtiani and sous chef Carlos Martiens of Rare and Rituals Coffee House will create culinary magic in a one staging in Gary Danko.

This restaurant is considered San Francisco's number one eatery, according to Zagats. Martiens, a Sundial School graduate and budding culinary genius, will also be at Jagtiani's right hand for the wine tasting and dinner. This trip is a reward to Martiens for his hard work, creativity and commitment to the culinary arts, according to Jagtiani. The young chef will also have the opportunity to see and learn from forty other internationally renowned chefs who will also be serving up their brand of culinary alchemy.

The California trip also has a twist for St. Maarten. As the only two chefs from outside of the United States, Jagtiani and Martiens are ambassadors for St. Maarten's title of "Culinary Capital of the Caribbean."Through the dishes created and complimentary stays here, sponsored by The Cliff and The Westin St. Maarten Dawn Beach Resort and Spa, the two chefs will promote the island to some of the movie and related industries "big wigs."
