Workers of the TelEm Group of Companies are currently undergoing a teamwork and customer service training course at the new TelEm Building on Pond Island.The training, being done by Training Development Institute official Clarence Richardson, began on January 14 and runs until January 29.

President Director of the TelEm Group Edward Benjamin said the training could make 2008 "a banner year" for the company when it comes to providing customer service to the company's clients. "We have come a long way in providing our customers the service they deserve, but there is always room for

improvement, especially when it comes to keeping calm and professional in tense situations," Benjamin was quoted as saying in a press release issued by Corporate Communications Officer Joe Dominique.He said the training will impress on personnel, the need for good service that will determine the ultimate success of the TelEm Group in the face of mounting competition in the global telecommunication sector.

He said the workshop is especially timely because younger workers who are joining the TelEm Group could benefit. Richardson said all customer service representatives in the company will take part in the training during times that will limit the effect on service to customers during working hours. He said the workers were eager to absorb the information they have received thus far and he feels confident they will put what they've learnt into practice.Shadira Lont of the Human Resources Development Department coordinated the training programme while Manager, Customer Service Veronica Browne, was instrumental in identifying the personnel training needs.

The training will also cover the topics: Effective communication, dealing with difficult customers and the benefits of customer service personnel maintaining a positive attitude.
