St. Martin Red Cross to hold first gala dinner




St. Martin Red Cross Gala Dinner



Martin chapter of the Red Cross is to hold its first gala dinner at the Restaurant Le Corsaire in Beach Plaza Hotel on Saturday, May 24, as part of the national fund raising drive that takes place this coming weekend, president Nicole Di Meo announced. The glitzy soiree organized by Calypso Events is expected to be attended by Prefect Delegue Dominique Lacroix and President of the Collectivite Louis-Constant Fleming, and features a menu prepared by no fewer than seven renowned island chefs who are part of the Friendly Island Chefs Association.

Each chef will be preparing his or her own creations for the 250-euro per head, dinner to be attended by some 120 invited guests. The featured chefs include Jerome Flores from Beach Plaza Hotel, Cecile Briaud-Richard from Chanteclair, Arnaud Chevalier from Table de Bacchus, Thierry Delaunay from Montmartre, Mario Tardiff from Mario's Bistro, Jean-Louis Camus from Hediard, and Mickael Geffroy, Pastry Chef of the Year.

And to get the taste buds flowing, the dinner at 8:00pm is preceded by an elaborate champagne cocktail reception with hors d'oeuvres organized by private chef Laurent Conte and Franck Maer from Le Pressoir with the assistance of Ina Urfalino (Estaminet), Franco Burato (Hibiscus), Nicolas Godebert (Boucaniers), Stephane Decluseau (L'Astrolabe) and Herve Sageot (Ti Provencale), both gold medal winners at the Taste of St. Martin competition.

During the cocktail starting at 7:00pm, artists Roland Richardson, Antoine Chapon, Genevieve Ivancic, and Dago, will have their paintings on display. Four paintings will be auctioned off to the highest bidder at the end of the evening Following the dinner, guests will be treated to a fashion show featuring Temps des Fleurs, Coccinella, Tessa Urbanowicz, and K'Line Boutique. All proceeds from the evening go to the Red Cross.

Meanwhile, this weekend, Red Cross volunteers will be out in force collecting money for a number of worthy causes. Information stands will be set up as well as a main stand in front of the Match Supermarket in the Howell Center. Monies collected will go towards financing repairs to the Red Cross headquarters in the former hospital, and to other causes and projects.
