La China Snack Bar welcomes all artists to join jam sessions

N & M Productions

N & M Productions presents the opening of Musician's Corner at La China Bar/Restaurant in the strip along A. Th. Illidge Road. This is the latest venture of Nacio, the bass guitarist of the One White Chick Band. Nacio, who prefers to go by just his first name, "Everybody knows me!" says music is all he knows, "My grandfather used to make instruments and he, himself, played every morning." Nacio undoubtedly got his love of music from that early environment and now he wants to share that gift with the world.

Nacio and his friends are planning to run on-going, open-to-the-public jam sessions in the breezy porch of trie restaurant. The low key atmosphere of La China Snacks fits the unassuming nature of the gentle people that hang out here. Trumpet and keyboard player Tony Thewet is one of the regulars. He is casual and enjoys a good play on words. Speaking about the jam sessions, Tony says "All artists are invited, musicians and magicians," Keyboard artist Mario echoes the sentiment, "This is my world."

The Musicians Corner at La China Snacks is open to anyone, especially those who consider themselves artists. Some will come to play, some to listen, some just to meet with friends. Nacio and Morena are the key ingredients of N & M Productions, and together with Yvonne they will keep everyone satisfied with good local food and drinks.

Nacio explained that this location is now the headquarters for the One White Chick Band. They will practice together there and anyone can come to join in or watch. He jokes that the band practices a lot, implying that band members are happy just to play together; but clubs around the island know that this band is a real crowd pleaser. Its eclectic mix of soul and funk, jazz and rock is fun to dance to and quite a different style than most local bands.

Tonight will be a celebration of this new place for music and in attendance you can hear One White Chick, Ronnie Santana, Donnie Colbert, and a lot of others. If you appreciate music and what it can do
