With the relocation of Slender You, Desiree Winkel has changed the set-up of her company Fitness Coaching in Cole Bay St.Maarten. Desiree, who is the champion Miss Body Fitness/Figure and Bodybuilding St. Maarten, says her fitness centre is now offering additional exercise programs, including a six-week weight-loss plan starting this week. It has almost been a year since Desiree opened Fitness Coaching on Welfare Road.
Today the fitness hub offers circuit training, a 30-minute workout focused on cardio and weight-training, personal training, and a variety of classes, such as total body workout, yoga, kickboxing, self-defense and washboard abs. Desiree says her company is different from other local gyms. People who want to do fitness, but have never tried it before or have never learned how to do it correctly without injuries, are at the right address at Fitness Coaching, she emphasizes. "We are really focused on guiding our clients, whether it is with circuit training, personal training or group workout classes. We give our clients thorough information and guidance in all aspects and we tell them how to train technically with results," she says. Fitness Coaching also tries to set up a training program that fits each individual's budget. "We try to adapt to our clients' wishes as much as possible, so we keep their budget in mind as well. We therefore offer a wide variety of programs, which also allows our clients to switch easily from one to another to prevent monotony," Desiree says.
The fitness coach, who's known for her winning performances at the St. Maarten and Antillean bodybuilding championships, says that many people think you have to do exercise to look good. And although everyone wants to look good, it doesn't have to be the main focus. "Exercising is important for your overall health. When you start living healthier by exercising, you will feel better. When you feel better, you will live healthier, sleep better and maybe you'll even want to cut down on drinking alcohol and stop smoking. Your attitude will change for the positive and other people will start noticing it. You'll be amazed what a positive attitude in live can bring you," Desiree emphasized. The coach has seen many of her clients become stronger, physically and mentally. "I see that as my biggest challenge and it really makes me happy when I see that my clients are feeling much better about themselves in the process," she says. Most of the machines used at Fitness Coaching are hydraulic.
Unlike free weights or machines with stacks of adjustable weights, the resistance provided by hydraulic exercise equipment depends on the force exerted by the user. "The plus side is that you will get lean muscle tissue and not bulk by using hydraulic equipment. Of course we can train people to get bulk muscle as well, but most of our clients want to get lean in certain areas. So we make sure they build up strong yet lean muscle tissue," Desiree explains. Muscle building is important when you want to loose weight, because the more muscle you develop, the more energy you'll bum during the day.
But exercising alone is not enough to shed off those extra pounds. "A good diet goes hand in hand with a good exercise regime," Desiree emphasized. "Most people are scared off when they hear they have to diet as well, if they want to slim down. What we try to do is teach our clients the right eating habits, instead of putting them on a strict diet. It's about changing your eating habits, the food choices you make, and the number of times you eat a day." Desiree has now introduced the new "Fitness Coaching 6 Weeks Solution," a weight-loss plan that raises your metabolism through eating - yes eating - and strength training, which builds calorie-burning muscle.
