St.Martin boat owners get registration certificate

French authorities have reminded fishing boat owners that they must have valid certification of registration to enter French maritime space.
Should the captain of any boat in French maritime space not be able to produce the document on request, he will be fined or given another penalty.
The French Authorities have granted a grace period until the end of January 2008, after which ail vessels going to St. Martin must have the required registration.
Meanwhile, Anguilla's Department of Fisheries and Marine Resources has reminded fishing boat owners that Fishing Vessel Licenses issued by the department only grant permission for a vessel to be used for fishing in Anguillan waters and is not a certificate of registration.
The department has advised that fishing boat owners who frequently visit St Martin should contact the Department of Fisheries and Marine Resources.
